Event hosting

I’ve hosted almost 500 events (350+ in person and close to 150 online) and I always work with partners to identify the most important issues and get the best from contributors. My media experience means I ask challenging, relevant questions, as well as injecting humour to ensure delegates are engaged - and, ideally, awake.
These events have included full-day (and 2-day) policy conferences, seminars and webinars, election hustings, round-table discussions, trade shows and awards ceremonies - for public, private and third sector clients in a variety of live settings across the UK, and on all the main online platforms. Topics have included everything from robotics to rural affairs, the licensed trade to life sciences, and social work to sustainability - with an increasing focus on two vital areas; AI & data, and climate change.

David Lee plays an integral part in shaping the annual business conference organised by CMS Scotland. He supported the inaugural conference in 2023, and was engaged again to help take the conference to a new level in 2024 - and is again a key player for 2025. His input, from the start of the planning process to the event itself, is vital to the success of our conference. He identifies strong speakers, has a clear understanding of what we want to achieve, and works with the team to deliver that vision. In 2023 and 2024, he delivered crisply-written summaries of the day.
Allan Wernham, Managing Director, CMS Scotland
David Lee was an excellent host of Millar & Bryce’s 150th anniversary conference, Property Excellence Past, Present and Future, in May 2025. His support and insights in developing the agenda - and then his skilful, professional and good-humoured chairing on the day - were integral to the success of the event. I was particularly impressed by his sure-footed and quick-thinking handling of a panel discussion, and would happily recommend him as a first-class event host.
Richard Hepburn, Director Scotland, Landmark Information Group
David Lee has chaired Social Work Scotland's annual conference for the last seven years, and has been re-engaged for 2025. He steers us through complex agendas with humour, sensitivity and good organisation. The team finds David very easy to work with, thanks to his attention to detail, careful planning and proactive approach. His grasp of wide-ranging subject matter is impressive, and he conducts Question & Answer sessions with balance and skill.
Ben Farrugia, Director, Social Work Scotland
David is a versatile event professional who has worked with KD Media on the Scottish Legal Awards for many years - and more recently as a host at the In Drinks 2024 trade show, and our Distillers' Conference in Autumn 2024. He will present three conferences for us in 2025 - Beer Matters, the Distillers’ Conference and a new Whisky Conference. David is skilled at adapting his presenting style to the occasion - whether announcing the winner of a pitching competition, hosting a panel session on drinks branding, or paying tribute to the recipient of a legal Lifetime Achievement Award. I’d happily recommend him as an excellent event host.
Kirsten Speirs, Director, KD Media
David Lee has chaired almost 40 conferences for the Law Society of Scotland, including the 90th anniversary of the Paisley Snail case, a two-day international gathering of legal regulators, and sessions at the annual conference. He is an integral part of the Society's new partner conferences as our regular host, and plays a central role in developing and hosting our conferences on conveyancing and anti-money laundering. David is equally at home in an in-person or online conference setting. He handles panel discussions with a sureness of touch, combining detailed knowledge with deft humour - and always works in close partnership with the Law Society team to ensure conferences run smoothly and offer the best experience to delegates.
Jim McKay, Head of Commercial Services, Law Society of Scotland
David Lee is a versatile and highly professional event host who can turn his hand skilfully to a variety of settings and subjects. He has hosted two events at the Houses of Parliament for clients of Hot Tin Roof - one on robotics and the other on wellbeing and physical health, in spring 2025. On both occasions, his research was meticulous and he understood the topics under discussion very well. He conducted panel sessions with a deft touch, ensuring all participants had their say while ensuring the discussions maintained momentum - always with a focus on what needed to happen next at a political level. I would very happily recommend David as a high-quality host who will add great value to your event
Steven Herd, Account Director, Hot Tin Roof PR
David has worked on several projects across a range of media with the Data Driven Innovation initiative. This has included hosting 5 full-day data conferences (2 online & 3 in person) and around 20 podcasts and panel discussions. The September 2024 conference saw David shape a highly relevant and thoughtful agenda on Disinformation, Deepfakes and Democracy. He then hosted the conference expertly, getting the best out of both speakers and subject matter. David is always full of ideas about how to improve agendas and can spot potential problems, and resolve them. I'm happy to recommend his skills to other potential clients.
Mark Baillie, Communications and PR Manager, City Region Deal Data-Driven Innovation Programme, University of Edinburgh
David Lee did an excellent job of chairing an online conference on volunteering and global citizenship hosted by the McConnell International Foundation in November 2023. His hosting skills helped the event to run very smoothly and his expert questioning got the best out of a wide range of speakers. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend him as a highly accomplished event host.
Lord McConnell, Chair, McConnell International Foundation
